Having a party at Burwood Park

The playground, barbecues and picnic areas at Burwood Park are shared with other park users, so get there early on weekends to claim a good spot. The public electric barbecues don't need a booking. Council allows your own gas barbecue if it's raised off the ground.

About the park

Council's park information and OpenStreetMap show a playground, barbecues, public toilets and shelter or shade at Burwood Park, in a park of about 6.0 hectares. OpenStreetMap also shows a car park in or right next to the park. We haven't been to this park ourselves, so have a quick look before party day to pick a flat, grassy spot.

Council lists these facilities: BBQ, dog off-leash area, drinking fountain, outdoor gym equipment, picnic tables, playground, rotunda, shade areas, sports area - grassed, toilets, walking trails paved.

Finding the park

Burwood Park is at Comer Street, Park Avenue, Park Road and Burwood Road, Burwood NSW 2134. Vehicles can't go on the grass without Council's permission, so tell us the exact spot and how far it is from where we can park.

Good to know

  • Power: Ask Council when you apply whether power is available. If it isn't, add a generator to your hire.
  • Pegs and surfaces: Council doesn't allow pegs or stakes in the ground, so tell us where the castle is going and we'll bring sandbags.
  • Weather: Bring shade and plenty of water on hot days. We can't run castles in strong wind or rain.

Council rules and bookings

Burwood Council needs to give prior approval before you use an amusement device, such as a jumping castle, in one of its parks. The same goes for putting up a temporary structure such as a marquee. Spikes and stakes can't go into the ground, and vehicles aren't allowed on grassed areas without prior permission. Council's Casual Hirers Insurance may cover private hirers. If you don't qualify for it, Council asks for $20 million public liability insurance with your application. Bonds and fees are set in Council's fees and charges. Apply with the Park Hire Application, or call Council on 9911 9911.
