Inner West Area Parks
Planning a party in a park in Sydney's Inner West? These guides cover parks across Inner West Council, Burwood, Strathfield and the City of Canada Bay that have a playground, barbecues and toilets or shelter. Each one has what Council says about facilities, the local rules and a map, so you can choose the right spot for your party.
Council permits at a glance
- Inner West Council: a jumping castle needs a park booking, even for small groups. Book at least 7 days ahead, and expect to provide the supplier's $20 million public liability certificate.
- Burwood Council: amusement devices such as jumping castles need prior approval, and stakes can't go into the ground.
- Strathfield Council: a jumping castle can't be part of a casual park event, so apply in writing at least six weeks ahead. Equipment has to be walked in.
- City of Canada Bay: private groups under 80 don't need to tell Council, unless you want a jumping castle. Then you book through Council's online portal. Check fees and insurance with Council.
Each park guide links to the council's own pages. Rules and fees can change, so check with Council before you book.
